The second management meeting of the project titled INDEED – “INnovative tools for Diets oriented to Education and hEalth improvement in Dysphagia condition” carried out by BEUFA – Governorship of Kocaeli, in cooperation with European partner institutions within the scope of Erasmus Plus program, was held in Huesca, Spain on 20-23 June 2022.
BEUFA Officer Mustafa GINESAR and project officer Mine KORMAZ YILMAZ attended the meeting on behalf of BEUFA. Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine Faculty Member and otolaryngologist Assoc. Dr. Seher Sirin participated in International Learning Teaching Training Activity. Within the scope of the event, study visits were also organized to the ASPACE HUESCA organization in the city of Huesca, which carries out activities for disadvantaged individuals, and to the Municipality of Huesca.
Dysphagia, also known as “Swallowing Disorder”, refers to the difficulty experienced by individuals in the safe delivery and swallowing of a food from the oral cavity to the esophagus. Dysphagia; can lead to serious consequences such as suffocation, obstruction, aspiration, pneumonia or other respiratory tract infections, dehydration and malnutrition, thus negatively affecting the quality of life and health of individuals.
The main purpose of the INDEED project, in which Spain, Italy, Greece and Lithuanian institutions as well as BEUFA are partners, is to create innovative learning methods for the education of individuals with dysphagia and the caregivers of these individuals and professionals working in the field of treatment of this disorder.
